Australian V8 Ute Racing Experience

V8 Ute racing has been around for about 8 years now since it began in 2000 where the first V8 Ute race was held at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide where it was a huge success. The race is made of 16 Holden SS Commodores and 16 Ford XR8 V8's, all of the Ute’s are production based with very little modifications with experienced drivers who love the cars, so there is a great rivalry between Holden and Ford and the fans root like crazy for their teams. Some of the drivers move into V8 Supercars after showing they can consistently lead the pack of Ute’s each year.

The Yokohama V8 Ute serious goes for 8 rounds at different locations around Australia including: the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, Wakefield Park, Eastern Creek, Hidden Valley, Queensland Raceway, Surfers Paradise, Symmons Plains, and Phillip Island. The unique reverse grid racing format is very popular and ensures that there is plenty of action on the track.

Each V8 series is made up of 3 races, giving each driver an opportunity to begin at the start of the pack. In the second race the reverse grid kicks in and that basically is the top 10 finishers of race one put in reverse order thus making for a more exciting race as the top drivers must pass the other drivers to get ahead. The third race grid format is determined by a points system.
